SMOKEY BEAR,the symbol for wildland fire prevention,
This 7' Smokey was the first Smokey Jack carved. It was created for the Naches Ranger Station in Naches, Washington.
"It is hoped that the carved likeness will serve as a visual reminder to be careful with fire, and to increase awareness of the importance of preventing wildfires. Smokey is a copyrighted symbol of wildland fire prevention belonging to the National Association of State Foresters, the Advertising Council, and USDA Forest Service and special permission had to be granted for this project."
-Randall D. Shepard, Naches Ranger District
