Slide Show and Interview with Jack on 'American Voices
with Senator Bill Bradley'
Chainsaw Jack was born in Arizona and has lived most of his life in the
Great Northwest. He currently resides in Selah, Washington with his
wife and daughter. He has an educational background in Micro Biology, for which
he holds a Degree, but his true love is the chainsaw! Since he started carving he has
sold pieces to people all over the world. Jack has appeared on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home
Edition
and has been featured on
broadcast news,newspaper articles and has done many art shows for which
he holds awards for his work. As well as wood Jack has work with
several other mediums such as stone,
metal, snow and even polystyrene. Jack has won awards for competing in
many competitions such as the
Westport
International Chainsaw Carving Championship.
Another competition Jack competed in was Reno Little Joes Carving
for Kids that benefited the Make a Wish Foundation. Jack is
also officially licensed to carve the Smokey Bear image and he has
carved a 7ft Smokey Bear for a local ranger station click here to view. He also helped in carving a number of
snow sculptures at the Annual White Pass Winter
Carnival.
Jack has also done school mascots for every educational level, from Baylor
University Bear to John Campbell Elementary School. Check out more mascots here!
Lots
of people will commission Jack to carve into a stump in their yard instead
of paying for stump removal, such as the Statue of Liberty in a patrons yard.
Jack can also carve into your log home as seen here. Jack was also pleased to participate in a welding competition with
fellow chainsaw carvers (Dave Tremko, Pat McVay, and Bill Bruzas) in
Bellingham Washington where they placed 2nd!
